OUR STORY

From a small operation focusing on home improvements, to a company offering some of the best furniture in the market. Usman was the founder of Modern Home Interiors, a furniture and home décor start-up based in Glasgow, Scotland. He was passionate about contemporary design and had a vision for creating stylish and functional spaces. Growing up in the city, it became clear that there were a large number of properties that did not live up to their potential, leaving a large gap for quality goods at an affordable price. Modern Home Interiors quickly gained a reputation for its high-quality furniture at competitive market pricing within the local and also wider national market and unique home décor pieces, thanks to his focus on clean lines, minimalist design, and high-quality reputable suppliers.

As the business has grown, Usman expanded the company's offerings to include a range of services including, serving the hospitality sector during the busy wedding season, working with a range of Airbnb and property management companies in Glasgow and Edinburgh, interior design consulting, and bespoke furniture packages for specialised events in the city. The company aim to open their first location in its home town, a spacious showroom in Glasgow, where we will showcase the very best and unique full range of products and services.

One of the things that sets Modern Home Interiors apart from your traditional home furnishings brand is its commitment to sustainability. Usman believes in using eco-friendly materials and practices whenever possible and to deal only with suppliers that adhere to a strict code of practice for sustainability and safety within the UK market, and he shares inspiration with a network of local designers and artisans who share his commitment to sustainability and passion for interiors. For the past 2 years, all packages that have been shipped out of the Glasgow warehouse and those that are not sent direct from factory or bespoke are shipped in entirely recycled packaging. This is in line with the goal to reduce the company's environmental impact. In addition to this Modern Home Interiors now helps a number of online traders to get started in the interior space - something which we had been working on for a while and are pleased to be offering help to young aspiring interior designers and entrepreneurs.

Today, Modern Home Interiors is one of Scotland's top rated furniture and home décor companies, renowned for its high-quality products and exceptional customer service. Whether you're looking to update your entire home or just add a few statement pieces, Modern Home Interiors has something for everyone. We would love to be a part of your next special project and can accommodate any size or budget.

If you have an interest in the furniture and interior design space, why not get in touch and see if we have any exciting opportunities for you. We may not always have a role available but there will be plenty of opportunity to connect and share ideas with us at our next Trade Show or networking event. We want to inspire the next generation to ensure that we create timeless and remarkable living spaces.

TOP TIPS

to consider when starting in the interior design field:

The aim is always simple, to select and arrange furniture, colours, and other decorative accessories to create a cohesive and harmonious look. Here are a few tips for incorporating interior design into your home:

  1. Determine your style: The first step in any interior design project is to determine your personal style. Do you prefer a more traditional look, or are you drawn to modern, minimalist design? Knowing your style will help you make informed decisions about furniture, colours, and other decorative elements.

  2. Consider function: In addition to aesthetics, it's important to consider the function of each space in your home. Think about how you and your family use each room and choose furniture and décor that meets your needs and supports those activities.

  3. Use colour wisely: Colour is a powerful tool in interior design and can have a big impact on the mood and feel of a space. Choose colours that reflect your personal style and the overall look you want to create.

  4. Mix and match: Don't be afraid to mix and match different styles and periods. Mixing old and new, or combining different patterns and textures, can create a more interesting and dynamic look.

  5. Accessorise: Small decorative elements, such as throw pillows, rugs, and artwork, can add personality and interest to a space. Choose accessories that reflect your personal style and add a touch of your own personality to your home.

  6. Edit and declutter: Finally, remember that less is often more when it comes to interior design. Edit and declutter your space to create a more cohesive and harmonious look.

By following these tips, you can incorporate interior design principles into your home and create a space that reflects your personal style and meets the needs of your family.
